What Is A Custom Workspace?

Photoshop has several different built-in workspaces to allow different content creators the ability to have the tools most used by their profession handy and accessible. Many creators will build custom workspaces to mix and match tools for convenience and ease of use.

Why Does A .psw File Not Install In Photoshop?

Included in the Commercial Retouching Workflow: Advanced Color With Sef McCullough is a .psw file to set up a custom workspace in Photoshop. With updates to Adobe, the location for the .psw file has changed. Users need only use the correct install path is critical for the installation to work.

  • If using Photoshop 2021 on a Mac, the correct file pathway used is to open a new finder window and navigate to Go>[ The name of your Computer HD]> users > [User Name] >Library>Preferences>Adobe Photoshop 2021 Settings>Workspace

The Library Folder Is Not Seen

  • If the library folder is not visible in the menu options, hold down the Option key, and it will appear.

Drag In The .psw

  • Then drag the color.psw file into the workspace folder inside the Photoshop version currently in use.

Reboot Photoshop

  • Once complete, boot up Photoshop. If Photoshop was opened during this process, reboot Photoshop. Once in Photoshop, go to window>workspace and select the color workspace.
